Meka#2194 has sold for a staggering 500 ETH today. The NFT is one of the best selling Mekaverse NFTs and took many by surprise due to the allegations about the collection earlier this year.
Mekaverse NFT Sells for Millions
The NFT sold on the marketplace Opensea for around $1.8 million. It came after, Mekaverse the creators of the NFTs, was accused of leaking private data to take advantage of the market before its NFTs were released. Since the accusations of fraud, the NFTs have tumbled in value, with many sitting far below their original price.
As a result, the sale comes as a surprise. Many see the Mekaverse NFTs as being fraudulent and not worth a purchase. NFT enthusiasts took to Twitter to express thier discontent about the sale. Twitter users remarked that the sale was probably dishonest and involved some money laundering.
Interestingly, it seems Mekaverse sold two #2194 NFTs through Opensea, one for 500 ETH and another for 2 ETH. Although this could have been a glitch, it seems something more suspicious might be going on. In conclusion, regardless of whether the transaction was fraudulent, we are again talking about Mekaverse and perhaps not for the right reasons.
