Aavegotchi, the Defi-powered NFTs, has a new Metaverse home! The project released a Lite Paper detailing a classic, 2D and pixelated wonderland called Gotchiverse Realm. Basically, this is the virtual world where Aavagotchis live, work and play. Moreover, this is where players will interact with all aspects of The Tamagochi-inspired NFT Game – and even build some for themselves!
Aavegotchi’s New Metaverse Home
The project enjoyed massive success back in March when the community swept off the first batch of Aavegotchi NFTs in under a minute. Since then, fans and players have clamored for the expansion into the metaverse. There were no hints and indications until the official announcement this week.
The 14-page Gochiverse litepaper is devoted to storytelling and fleshing out the metaverse, particularly its considerable lore and backstory.
Flagship Feature: Gamified Yield Farming
The metaverse will introduce a new, fungible ERC-20 token, the Gotchus Alchemica. These are farmableNFT land plots in the REALM. It is worth noting that it is similar conceptually to Decentraland’s MANA/LAND two-token system. However, owning a parcel is more than a sandbox to build on because lands are not classified by size or shape. Instead, each parcel also comes with a unique mix of “resources” under its soil.
The 4 resources in the game, which are also ERC-20 tokens, are $ALPHA, $FOMO, $FUD and $KEK. Players can use their Aavetgochis and these resources to farm their lands effectively. These resources are necessary for crafting a wide variety of NFT “installations” on top of parcels.
What differentiates thes Aavegotchi’s Metaverse is that it is not all about typical buildings and yield farming. Instead, Aavegotchi designed the Gotchiverse to provide a truly RPG gaming-inspired experience.
Exploring the Metaverse Realm of Gotchiverse
The nemesis of Aavegotchis are The Liquidators. These virtual NFT Collectibles compete with Aavegotchis for resources that often “leak” onto the world’s surface. In essence, the map will be “a huge game of Pac-Man,” where Aavegotchi runs or float around the map to collect Alchemica.
Aside from being rivals of the Aavegotchis, The Liquidators are actually meant to offer a free-to-play entry point with no cap on supply and limited collectability. This is an innovative approach because anyone will have a fair shot and means to chase down the Alchemica Resources. Of course, The Liquidators will attempt to catch the Aavegotchis before they return to the REALMS bearing Alchemica Resources.
Aavegotchi wants to avoid the incident last time when the first batch of Aavegotchi NFTs (10,000) were snatched up in under a minute. Since many weren’t able to purchase, this sales model caused stress and disappointment to the Aavegotchi fanbase. Hence, to improve on that, the project introduced the “bid-to-earn” auction model. The auction method leaves the door open for 72 hours and enables everyone to take their time bidding on any available parcel over that period.
Rightfully so, the full release will take some time. However, Aavegotchi co-founder Jesse Johnson confirmed that some sections would be released as early as Q3 2021. Aavegotchi made a solid impression on the NFT Charts by moving up seven places in the rankings. Hence, it is imperative that they release this feature to maintain the momentum.
