Kilpop Entertainment is launching a Heavy Metal NFT honoring rocks’ most legendary siblings. Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell, collectively known as the Abbott Brothers, are the founding members of the heavy metal band Pantera.
The multimedia company behind this project, Kilpop Entertainment, focuses on bringing a greater interaction with rock fans. The company’s future auctions will include memorabilia from bands such as Tool, Audioslave and The Offspring. Carlota Gonzales, CEO of Kilpop, confirmed that this is the start of many more projects. She said, “Additionally, we are speaking with many independent music acts to help them NFT their music.”
Heavy Metal NFT
Pantera made a mark as one of the most successful and influential heavy metal bands in history. The band sold over 40 million records. Moreover, they have four Grammy Nominations on their belt. The “Brothers” NFT will feature NFT artworks and collectibles as a homage to the legendary hell raisers.
The main draw of the heavy metal NFT is the guitar of Darell. The guitar is a 1/1 offering and signed by Darell himself. Celebrity artist Jason Oberly also hand airbrushed the guitar to improve its aesthetic. The guitar is accompanied by an unlockable digital drive link containing the painting of the guitar.
In addition, the NFT also includes an autographed limited edition Hellyeah Banner featuring Vinnie Paul. Both items will include an official 3D plaque certifying the signature’s authenticity on Dimebag’s guitar and the autograph on the Hellyeah banner.
Finally, the 1/1 NFT offering includes a 1 on 1 Zoom conference with the artist Jason Oberly. Oberly is an award-winning airbrush artist specializing in real-life portraits on guitars, basses, drums, motorcycles, cars, trucks, and low riders. He has a track record of working with Celebrities, Rock Stars, Charities, MMA , NFL and Fast & Furious.
Oberly shared, “Beyond the success of this Brothers auction, I look forward to additional NFT auctions as we collectively look to make these exciting, one-of-a-kind items available to music fans worldwide.”
More about the Rock Legends
Darell is remembered for his hard-hitting riffs while Oberly is unmatchable on the drums. Darrell was shot and killed on stage by a mentally unstable fan during a Damageplan concert in Columbus, Ohio. Vinnie Paul went on to form Hellyeah after his brother’s death and died of heart failure in 2018.
Asked about that fateful day, Paul narrated “The last thing that really matters to me is the last thing we said to each other before we went on stage. Our code word to let it all hang out and have a good time was ‘Van Halen’, man! And that’s the last two words we ever said to each other. I said, ‘Van Halen’ and he said ‘Van Halen’ and we high-fived each other and went on the deck to do our thing… and a minute-and-a-half later I’ll never see him again.”
Their days of rocking it out might be over but their legacy lives on.
The auction will start on July 22 at Rarible.
