Activision Blizzard Asks Their Fans About NFTs In A New Survey

    By Ming HooiApril 17, 2022Updated:September 20, 20222 Mins Read

“How interested are you in the following emerging/future trends in gaming?” asked Activision Blizzard in its latest survey. To the players’ horror, NFTs, metaverse, and P2E gaming are some of the options listed. If you were one of the respondents, what would be your answer?

Activision Blizzard trying to gauge fans’ interest in NFTs in its latest survey

Activision Blizzard sent the 15-minute survey to a select group of players. In the survey, the company asked them questions ranging from how frequently they played various Blizzard games to which game genre they played the most. So, which part of it asked about NFTs then?

Turns out that there’s a section in the survey asking about players’ interest in emerging technologies and future trends in gaming. The survey has covered on-demand topics such as cross-play, which is fine. But there are topics like metaverse, play-to-earn crypto gaming, and NFTs down the list as well. Take a look below.

    What are the fans’ reactions?

All we can say is that fans of Activision Blizzard are not happy. According to Twitter user @OTadaka, his answer is simple: very disinterested. It is not unusual to see these responses, as traditional gamers generally view NFTs as a form of a cash grab.

Additionally, fans also lamented that the company didn’t even bother to have a proper “thank you” landing page at the end of the survey. Instead, upon completion, the survey ended abruptly by redirecting them to Blizzard’s online store.

Nonetheless, rumors were spreading on Twitter that the company will integrate NFTs into Call of Duty games. One thing for sure is that Activision Blizzard will not be the only gaming firm eyeing the NFT space. In fact, Japanese gaming giant Sega recently suggested that NFT is “a natural extension for the future of gaming“.
