An anynomous user has made a mystery CryptoPunk donation to APENFT, a foundation and fund that collects top NFTs. According to the organization, the Punk’s highest bid was $165,827.
“We’re excited to announce that we’ve received CryptoPunk1649, one of the CryptoPunk NFT avatars, from a mystery donor!!!” APENFT said in a tweet. “The highest bid of this avatar once reached $165,827. A shout-out to our generous supporter: we love this punk-style artwork a lot!!”
The CryptoPunk donated to APENFT
The anonymous user who made the mystery CryptoPunk donation to APENFT, is believed to be an early backer of the NFT project. Previously, the anonymous donor’s Punk was not listed for sale.
CryptoPunk 1649 is one among the 6039 male Punks. Its rare features include Crazy Hair, which only 414 Punks have, and Shadow Beard, which is present in 526 Punks. Other features are earring and regular shades.
Singapore-based APENFT has received several other NFTs as donations, though the CryptoPunk was definitely the most mysterious. For instance, Tron CEO Justin Sun donated EtherRock 87 to APENFT just weeks back. The NFT is part of the EtherRock series and is one among the only 100 such NFTs in existence. Sun, an ardent NFT fan, had bought the NFT for a whopping $611,170. He took to Twitter to announce his buy, saying, “Just spent half million dollars on a rock.”
Built on the Ethereum blockchain, CryptoPunks are a collection of 10,000 unique, pixelated avatars- one of the first of their kind. The APENFT CryptoPunk was a very kind present. To clarify, this chart-topping NFT collection has amassed $407,076,491 in sales in the past seven days. Incredibly, payments technology company Visa bought a CryptoPunk for nearly $150,000 just last week. Unlike the APENFT CryptoPunk, theirs is a female Punk with Mohawk, green eyes, and hot lipstick.
