Decentraland is celebrating the 52nd anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing in a unique way. At 3:50 PM UTC on July 25, the DappCraft Studios will reconstruct the Apollo 11 mission on the metaverse. For this, DappCraft has collaborated with the Aldrin Family Foundation (AFF) and Banquet Metaverse Studio. Moreover, fashion designer Nicholas Graham is also part of the collaboration.
The Apollo 11 mission is one of the biggest events in the history of space travel. 52 years ago today, astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins completed their travel to the moon and back. The historic event had thus opened the doors for future space exploration.
All about Apollo 11 mission on Decentraland
As part of the moon landing on Decentraland, Graham will launch a space wearables NFT Collection on the metaverse. The collection will feature flight suits and jackets, space helmets and man boots. Moreover, a recreated landing site of Apollo 11 will serve as a backdrop for the collection.
“We are in the early days of a new space age and what better way to celebrate it than with a collection based on the OG of Space: Apollo 11,” Grahams was quoted by CryptoSlate.
In addition, the event will see donations made out to the AFF. A non-profit organization, AFF offers education tools focusing on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics). Through this, it aims to foster the next generation of space travellers.
“We want this launch to be remembered as the beginning of a new era. An era of limitless possibilities for the realization of dreams in the crypto universes,” Decentraland wrote on its website.
“Our main goal is to enable new generations to open up boundless horizons for imagination,” it further noted.
