This year, Audius becomes one of the leading blockchain-based music streaming platforms. The startup might even rival Spotify as some of the biggest performers show their support, including Katy Perry and Jason DeRulo.
Audius, skyrocketing to success with popstars’ help
Back in 2018, when Audius launched on the market, few people were aware of NFTs or the concept behind blockchain. Fast-forward to 2021, the platform is rivaling Spofity, a leader among music streaming services.
In a recent announcement, the company has revealed receiving a multimillion-dollar investment round. Surprisingly, the investors’ list includes big names of the music industry. Katy Perry, Steve Aoki, and The Chainsmokers are just a few.
Multi-awarded rapper and investor Nas is particularly excited about the Audius concept:
“I believe (blockchains) might be the most important technology to ever hit the music industry. Everyone who uploads to Audius can be an owner. You can’t say that about any other platform,” he said.
Indeed, Audius‘ popularity skyrocketed by ‘putting the power back into the hands of content creators’ – as its mission statement suggests.
Audius and TikTok, a revolutionizing partnership
The popstar-powered funding round for Audius comes shortly after social media giant TikTok teamed up with the platform.
The partnership now allows content creators to upload and utilize their Audius content directly into the TikTok videos with a single click. This innovation has made it much easier for TikTok users to customize their video content while increasing Audius’ popularity.
