Following reports about Axie Infinity server crashes, the NFT game giant have released a statement. Glitches affecting player earnings are blamed on the number of people using the platform.

Players report game-play slowdown and, in some cases, full crashes. These have the potential to significantly impact progress. On Saturday 17th July the developers responded with details.
What did Axie Infinity say?
Here’s what you need to know:
“As we’ve experienced exponential growth, some issues have popped up with the game server. Hooking a game up to blockchain data is a new invention and something that nobody has ever done before with a large number of players. Things were going smoothly until the last few weeks but the server started to breakdown once we passed 500,000 daily active users.”
At the time of writing, it is unclear when the bugs will be fixed. However, Axie Infinity have reportedly taken steps to rectify issues. These include hiring more staff and building out a new support system.
“We are not sure when things will return to normal, it could be days or even weeks,” the Axie Infinity team said.
It’s been an intense week for the Axie nation and we want to provide some clarity and transparency around the server issues and how we are dealing with them.
Thank for you for the patience as we go through this historic time!

What is Axie Infinity?
If you’re not sure what Axie Infinity is where have you been? The online game is one of a growing number partially owned and operated by players themselves, who must breed, rear and improve characters called ‘Axies’.

For the most part, in-game tasks and battles dominate the action. Victory in any of these will reward you with a special token, called a Small Love Potion [SLP].
Axie Infinity has crashed both; in the middle of fights and during adventure mode. This is particularly problematic due to the impact on daily earnings. According to CriptoNoticias, one gamer reported the loss of two hours play as a result.
Despite these problems, Axie Infinity continues to top the charts for NFT marketplaces. In the 30 days to 19th July, they handled over $450million in trade. The game recently introduced Virtual Lands, which can be bought like real estate IRL. Earlier this month, the native token, Axie Infinity Shards, reached an all-time high value of $18.7US.
