The latest NFT collection swinging in on the proverbial vine, the Baboon Brigade drop is set for 24th November 2021.
You may have already picked up on this primate-themed series via our NFT Event Calendar. If not, no worries. Simply put, the Brigade comprises 7,777 airborne monkeys. Each has been developed using more than 100 different traits. Delightfully, these are all hand-drawn by the team’s artist, Chase.
This means each of the animal tokens is unique, with a mixture of attributes made from millions of possible combinations. As makes sense, then, the series is split into different categories. Visually, the collection combines the look of classic 20th Century military combatants with crypto-style details. The result is a genuinely individual-looking collection.
More to the Baboon Brigade Drop than Meets Your Eye
The Baboon Brigade drop is about more than simply collecting tokens to look at in your crypto wallet. Every token holder will get access to a free-to-play tournament game. Crucially, even if you lose in the game you will never lose your Baboon Brigade NFTs. Instead, the contest is there to help you bring in CBC. That’s the native currency of the Brigade. You will also have a chance of winning more Baboons to add to your collection.
All the action takes place in a ‘jungle-themed metaverse’ with futuristic qualities. Of course, you’ll have to wait to see for yourselves exactly what that entails. If you’re interested in finding out then note the price point here. During pre-sale, Baboons cost 0.05 ETH. However, once the series goes public this will increase to 0.07 ETH.
Following the initial drop, the Baboon Brigade roadmap looks like this:
*December 2021 — Baboon Barracks Access; accommodations and community launch, including boards to share ideas and roadmap requests
*January 2022 — Card Room Game Launch; this is when you’ll be able to start playing the no-loss game and accumulating valuable CBC tokens
*Q1 2022 — Airborne Drops; Token holders get airdropped ammo, smokes, and more for their Baboons. Meanwhile, the dedicated liquidity pool will also be initialised at this time, via ApeSwap
A Charity Drop
Impressively, Baboon Brigade has a philanthropic aspect, which we’re more than keen to shine some light on.
A portion of all sales will go to the Gorilla Fund. The organisation works tirelessly to protect gorillas, which are on the IUCN list of Critically Endangered species. Currently, it is believed there are around 316,000 western gorillas in the wild, and just 5,000 of their eastern counterparts.
Gorilla Fund was set up by Dian Fossey, an American conservationist. Starting in 1966, she undertook an extensive study of gorillas in the wild. This significantly improved our understanding of the species and led to the 1988 motion picture, Gorillas In The Mist. The film, in which Sigourney Weaver played Fossey, was released three years after Fossey was murdered. It is believed this was at the hands of poachers she had faced off against during in her work.
