Bacardi is teaming up with GRAMMY Award-winning producer Boi-1da to bring an NFT-powered third installment of Music Liberates Music. The spirits company designed this program to champion underrepresented voices in the music industry. This year, the partners want to address the status quo that only 2% of music producers are female.
With an expert ear for the untapped passion and potential, Boi-1da helped BACARDĺ select the talent for this year’s program. Firstly, Bambii (Kirsten Azan) hails from Canada and is one of the country’s most compelling Caribbean-inspired DJs and emerging producers. Similarly, Toronto-native Denise Thomas – professionally known as Denise De’ion – has been writing her own music and singing for more than two decades. Finally, Aviane Vargas, otherwise known as PERFXN, is a rising producer and fashion designer originally from the Dominican Republic, now based in Los Angeles.
The NFT Collection shines the spotlight on these three incredible rising talents.
Meet the stars of Bacardi’s “Music Liberates Music” Program and Boi-1da Role
Basically, Bacardi hosted studio sessions with Bambii, Denise De’ion, and PERFXN in Los Angeles. The goal is to work collaboratively one-on-one with Boi-1da to finalize three new, high-energy, Caribbean-inspired tracks, which will be released today, October 13, as NFTs
Essentially, the three songs will be acutioned off as limited-edition tracks on the newly launched NFT marketplace, STURDY.EXCHANGE.
There’s already a long list of music-themed NFT series in the world from artists like Kings of Leon, Shawn Mendes and even Katy Perry. What makes this Drop stand out is that, for the first time ever, proceeds will go to the artist and “fanvestors” who invest in the producers’ work. Each NFT includes a percentage of the streaming royalties as part of the program’s Fanvestor Kit. So the artist and their fans can both make money as more people stream the music.
This first-to-market model is particularly important for talent at the start of their careers. Plus, it helps to create a deeper connection with fans. Clearly, the industry has graduated from the trend where NFTs come with IRL experiences. Now it’s all about creating value and utility for your NFT Portfolio!
According to Boi-1da, “we have a lot of reasons to be excited about this Drop so make sure you check them out. “I believe this talented class of emerging producers is in the future of music. Over the past few months, I’ve seen them pour their hearts into these new tracks. As someone who has been through the ups and downs of music-making, I’m excited for them to truly change the game in the music business.”
