The Bored Ape Yacht club is inviting the community to the grand opening of the BAYC Riverboat Casino in Decentraland. Starting August 6, the first official BACY hangout in the metaverse is finally open. If your idea of fun is music, vibes, and an epic poker, blackjack and roulette tournament, then you should definitely attend.
Bored Ape Yacht Club was officially launched in April. Basically, it offered 10,000 unique ape avatars for around $200 USD. BAYC’s initial batch of NFTs brought in more than two million dollars. The collection has since seen almost $110 Million in trading volume, with the cheapest apes going for almost $22,000.
All aboard the BAYC Riverboat Casino!
During the launch, owning a BAYC NFT doubles as membership to an exclusive club. The first utility introduced is the graffiti wall. Basically, NFT holders gained access to a private “bathroom” that allows them to put graffiti on the wall. Then, the project airdropped NFT holders their very own dog NFTs from the Kennel Club.
So the launch of BAYC Riverboat Casino is the fulfillment of its promise to add more utility to the community. The project didn’t reveal much info about the launch but they did confirm that they will be awarding “special item for dog NFT owners.”
BAYC avatars were always meant to be the digital identity of their owners. According to the creators, their vision is for the avatars to “populate the tiny square or circle of screen space that’s supposed to represent your self.” Thus, having a Metaverse presence makes sense for the project.
Gaming projects are gaining ground in terms of Metaverse execution. Collectibles projects like BAYC are following their lead because one day, it will be an industry standard. Metaverse is more than a tech buzzword, it is the logical next phase of the digital world.
