The Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) has just announced that it will be releasing toys of its famous NFTs. The NFT collection is teaming up with the entertainment, apparel, and designer toy company, Superplastic for the physical products.
BAYC x Superplastic Toys sure to be in high demand
BAYC and Superplastic put the news out on Twitter late on Jan. 13th. At this time there isn’t much additional info on the toys. For example, there’s no word on a release date, or exactly how many BAYC toys will be available.
Nevertheless, like just about all news from BAYC, the Tweets about the upcoming toys were met with a ton of excitement.
Without a doubt, BAYC has started 2022 just as it ended 2021 – at the forefront of the NFT space. Indeed, after months of growth, the project floor price recently rose above that of CryptoPunks. A move that many in the NFT space predicted due to the output of BAYC creators, Yuga Labs.
Not to mention unconfirmed rumors of a Super Bowl Halftime Show appearance. It all adds up to the fact that people are as bullish on Apes as ever. Given that, the BAYC toys are sure to be a big hit on arrival.
Toy news drops ahead of latest NFTs from Superplastic
The partnership with BAYC for the upcoming toys is the latest in a string of big collaborations for Superplastic. To list a few, the brand has worked with Gucci and Gorillaz in the past, with a number of big-time partnerships still to come.
What’s more, Superplastic is an NFT success in its own right. To illustrate, the company put out its debut NFT collection last July. The project, Cryptojankyz, has since traded nearly 5,000 ETH on OpenSea, with a current floor price of 0.95 ETH. In addition, a new NFT collection for Cryptojankyz holders will be launching in a few days, on Jan. 18th.
All in all, NFTs and toys seem like a match made in heaven. It will be interesting to see which other projects follow BAYC and Superplastic to drop toys of their own in 2022.
