The ‘Big Time’ online NFT RPG can offer real world monetisation. The game, which comes from developers behind ‘Gods of War’ and ‘Gears of War’, among other titles, sees players earn non-fungible tokens with value outside the playable environment.
Introducing the ‘Big Time’ Online NFT RPG
Billed as a multiplayer action RPG, ‘Big Time’ promises some very big things. Players explore ancient mysteries and civilisations from the future alike, adventuring through time and space. En route, they find and collect rare NFT items, and use these to decorate their avatars.
Characters can be ‘levelled up’ to different classes., although just two are currently available: Warrior and Chronomancer. More will be added in the near future. Gamers also develop a personal time machine, and again NFT items can be used to make these devices unique. Regular drops of non-fungible tokens within ‘Big Time’ will be announced on an ongoing basis.
‘Big Time’ Real World Value
Much is being made about the real world value of ‘Big Time’ NFT content. According to TechTimes, trading items inside the gaming environment will create funds that can be withdrawn and spent IRL.
This is seen as a major improvement on platforms like ‘Fornite’, which do not allow conversion outside the native environment. Models such as this are often called ‘Walled Gardens’ because they restrict users to spending on specific website and services.
Ari Meilich has been at the centre of efforts to bring NFTs to ‘Big Time’, among other environments. Not only is he one of Big Time Studios’ co-founders, he is also known for his role in creating Decentraland, the first decentralised world which is helping fuel a boom in virtual real estate NFTs. Earlier this month, Big Time Studios announced it had secured $21million in funding. The company’s main goal is the integration of non-fungible tokens into major gaming technologies.
