The Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) continues to dominate the NFT space. In the latest sale, Bored Ape NFT #8585 sold for 696.969 ETH to an unnamed buyer on OpenSea. This sale is massive and equates to $2.68 million, making it the biggest NFT sale of that week. However, there were also three CryptoPunks and the XCOPY piece ‘Dankrupt’ in the top five.
According to Rarity Tools, #8585 is an extremely rare NFT. It ranks 440th out of 10,000. The ape has features such as trippy fur and a King’s crown. Bored Ape NFTs are highly regarded in the space. The collection features 10,000 Bored Apes who each have different costumes, expressions and attributes. The current floor price on OpenSea for BAYC is 35.69 ETH. In addition, many consider BAYC a long term blue chip project.
The new owner has impeccable taste; they also picked up some other high-value art over the last week. The wallet belonging to the owner now includes a Fidenza (an Art Blocks Curated NFT), purchased for 200 ETH. Shortly after, the owner purchased two CryptoPunks totalling 420 ETH ($1.5 million)
In total, the buyer spent an astonishing $5 million on NFTs. Surprisingly, after spending so much on the Bored Ape NFT and others, they still have money to spare, with a remarkable $1 million remaining in their wallet.
The price of Bored Ape NFTs has risen rapidly over the last year. Furthermore, many now see it as a critical player in the NFT space. In addition to sales, BAYC has recently announced Roadmap 2.0. Some of the highlights for the new roadmap include an exclusive yacht party. As well as this, they have huge events planned for 2022.
