The Boss Beauties NFT project’s Discord is the latest server to fall victim to hackers.
News reached Twitter when @Zeneca_33 informed followers that the Boss Beauties’ Discord server seemed to have been compromised:
“Please be careful, do not click on any links. Reminder of this scam/attack vector, if something unexpected pops up, it’s usually a scam.”
At 12:38 PM GMT+1, @BossBeautiesNFT confirmed this via a Tweet:
“Hi BB fam, we are looking into what happened in our discord and we are working to communicate with you all ASAP. We love you all and are grateful for your patience.”
What is Boss Beauties?
Boss Beauties is a women-led initiative that empowers women and girls from across the globe. In September 2021, the project released 10,000 NFTs that proved to be super popular with the brand’s followers. In addition to being collectables, these NFTs enable NFT holders to gain access to a virtual community, events and more.
More about the Discord scam
In the last couple of days, malicious actors hijacked the bots of several NFT projects’ Discords.
This is how it works: after hijacking the Discord bots, these actors post in the announcement channel about a “stealth launch”. They then post a link to a fake website, encouraging people to visit it and mint. Finally, the website funnels the ETH into the scammer’s digital wallet.
NFT enthusiasts should independently verify any links posing as official announcements. They’re also being encouraged by moderators and company owners to double-check with community founders before minting.
This latest hack follows the other highly-publicised Discord hacks that have been happening in the last couple of days, which have affected negatively several NFT projects and NFT enthusiasts.
