Gamers of the horse racing game Zed Run have a new reason to rejoice! The developers of Zed Run announced the return of its NFT horse breeding program this week.
What does this mean for gamers? Stable owners can now breed their horses in the Zed Run Stud Farm, giving rise to brand new horses.
Zed Run’s breeding program explained
All horses in Zed Run are NFTs owned by the players. The players can buy horses from the marketplace and take part in different competitions to win crypto prizes. Breeding opens up another means to earn big on the platform.
Breeding requires one stallion (male horse) and a mare (female horse). In order to participate, gamers will have to own a stable and have enough WETH to pay for the breeding. While stallion owners will get the breeding fee, mare owners will receive the offspring in their stable. It is up to the stallion owner to charge a breeding price of their choice.
As of now, the game doesn’t allow breeders to breed within their stable. This means that they will have to partner with someone else to breed their horse.
Currently, Zed Run also doesn’t have a feature that facilitates private breeding. Hence, both horses should be placed in the Stud Farm to breed. Then, players have to set a minimum price and the number of days. All offspring will have three characteristics at birth: Ability Score, Distance Preference, and Fatigue Factor. However, Fatigue Factor has not been activated, Zed Run noted on its website.
Digital horses are the new craze
As the NFT craze grows, more people are getting into digital horse racing, bolstering platforms such as Zed Run. In recent months, we have seen horse racing enthusiasts shelling out big bucks to own and race their NFT horses. For instance, a single racehorse on Zed Run recently sold for $125,000.
Last month, Belgian Pilsner maker Stella Artois also auctioned 50 Genesis Zed Run horses on Opensea. The auction saw fans battle it out to own the digital horses with exclusively designed Stella Artois skins.
