Brie Larson’s NFT Purchase
Larson’s choice is from The Flower Girls NFT Project – a collection of 10,000 unique Flower Girls, generated from over 950 hand-drawn elements. According to the website, the project will donate 20% of both primary and secondary sales profits to a range of children’s charities.
The Hollywood star’s move is drawing mixed reactions from her fans. Obviously, crypto Twitter is thrilled that another celebrity aped into an NFT project. After all, more exposure means that the space can reach a mainstream audience instead of being a niche market.
On the other hand, some fans are “canceling” Larson for supporting NFTs. For example, @screenrant editor Alisha Grauso pointed out environmental concerns over the energy consumption of NFTs. Meanwhile, others expressed concerns over scams and rug pulls that’s been haunting the industry. Lastly, some fans think that NFTs make it easier to steal art from artists.
Aside from Larson, Reese Witherspoon is also championing women-centric NFT projects. The actress is a multi-owner of the World of Women NFT Collection. The Oscar-winning actress first dipped her toes into the Crypto world back in September 2021 when she bought her first Ethereum tokens. Since then, she hasn’t looked back and has expanded her NFT portfolio.
