Dating app Bumble is among the latest companies to integrate the metaverse into their system. Accordingly, the project aims to upgrade its soon-to-launch Bumble BFF platform using Web 3.0 features.

Metaverse dating via Bumble
This week, Texas-based dating company Bumble confirmed its interest in Web 3.0. In essence, the team is planning to explore new ways of merging the metaverse and its upcoming Bumble BFF platform.
According to Bumble CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd, the new app creates a perfect opportunity to step into the digital market:
“Bumble BFF gives us a platform for Bumble to become a leader in the Web 3.0 world. In the near term, this means new engagement, participation, and creator models. But longer-term, it becomes a way for members to own their experience on Bumble,” she says.
In the near future, users will be able to meet and interact in the metaverse. This new experience might include virtual experiences, asset trading, and new ways of revealing their identity digitally.
So far, the company didn’t reveal many details on how the future app is going to work. However, we do know that its Web 3.0 integration matches the core values of Bumble, including women’s empowerment.

Empowering women via Web3 tech
Unlike other similar dating apps, Bumble encourages female users to make the first step in searching and meeting new partners. It’s a successful concept, as the platform is already having over 42 million active users per month.
The dating company is determined to start off on the right foot with Web 3.0 too. Recently, Bumple had posted two job offers for “Head of Web3 and Crypto,” which were quickly occupied. As a result, the team is already making progress:
“We’ve got a couple of tests that we’re very excited about that we will be rolling out in the upcoming months around this, but we think that’s the first toehold there,” says Bumble, Inc. President Tariq Shaukat. “This is something that is going to evolve. We want to make sure we’re setting the technical and engineering foundation for whatever emerges in the metaverse and in the Web 3.0 world.”

Web3, a limitless virtual universe
This year, Web 3.0 has expanded at the speed of light – mainly thanks to people’s interest in the NFT market. As millions of users are investing in digital assets, virtual companies explore new ways of increasing their utility.
For example, this month tech giant Microsoft revealed its plans to join the metaverse as well. In fact, the company believes the metaverse has become a “persistent, digital world that is connected to many aspects of the physical world, including people, places and things.”
