Cyberkongz’ charity NFT was auctioned off for 69 ETH ($202,000) in support of Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The NFT in question was a special Baby Kong (#1002) named Matabishi. Cyberkongz then doubled the auction earnings (138 ETH / $404,000) and sent it to the national park. The charity later tweeted and was extremely grateful for the donation.
About the Charity NFT
The Cyberkongz team created a special NFT, a custom Baby Kong (#1002) which is called Matabishi, in tribute to the last male mountain gorilla that was rescued in 2013. Specifically, it was made to celebrate World Gorilla Day and support Virunga National Park. The Cyberkongz charity NFT auction started on September 20th and finished on September 24th at 6 PM UTC. In addition to this Baby Kong, the winner of the auction received a random Cyberkong VX for The Sandbox. At the start of the auction, Twitter user @the_penseur said: “This is why I love this community! Always giving back!”. By the end of the auction, it sold for 69 ETH or $202,000.
After the CyberKongz charity NFT auction finished, the team decided to double the bid and send 138 ETH or $404,000 to the charity. The National Park tweeted: “Wow. We’re overwhelmed by the generosity of Cyberkongz and their community who just donated and matched the funds raised from the custom Matabishi #NFT auction. A big thank you to everyone involved!”
