Dark Country is a deck-building card battler game and multichain land-based Universe on the Wax blockchain. This blockchain game stands out among other play-to-earn projects with its top-notch art, regular daily tournaments and classic collectible card game mechanics.
Gameplay Basics
The gameplay takes place in the fictional “Dark Country.” The lore starts with the Chief calling upon the ancestral guard but instead wakes an ancient evil. Now, four groups are roaming around the land: cowboys, criminals, Indians and undead demons. Players pick one of these groups for their hero powers and build decks with the cards in their inventory.
The four pillars of the game revolve around battling, building, exploring, and owning and earning.
Players can participate in tournaments, PVP and PVE battles with classic card trading battle mechanics or hero-powered boards. The game is also about developing your “ hometown” in order to unlock more features such as card crafting, joining a guild and going on adventures. Then, players can send their hero with decks into an adventure to conquer monsters and win solid prizes.
Finally, the owning and earning components are tied together. Players have a chance to earn in-game currencies from Dark Portal and adventures. They can also receive fees from various in-game activities and earn passive income by renting land to someone and card borrowing. DeFi products are also available because players can farm and stake their NFTs.
The Dark Country Token: Shadow Dime (SDM)
SDM is the main token for Dark Country, and it’s called Shadow Dime. Players can use SDM to purchase game assets or trade the token on an exchange. There’s a total supply of 100 billion SDM tokens per blockchain.
SDM nourishes the whole world’s gameplay. (SDM) is a transferable in-game currency that can be mined within Dark Country lands and is used for four major transactions:
- Cards and Heroes purchase, rent and upgrades
- Buildings construction and upgrades
- Quests and Adventures
- Staking and Voting
Deck Building Game
You can start playing by building a deck through the deck builder. Once the deck is ready, you can try to find an opponent. Once you find an opponent, you will be redirected to the game field, similar to classic games.
Dark Country cards are used to build decks for playing. The initial Dark Country items collection are called Exodus Cards. There are 100 unique card types in this series with different rarities. The Exodus card series were sold in a pre-sale. These cards comeare unique, with a mechanic called Inspire. The more inspire-cards a player has, the more powerful the abilities of the Natives become. Each faction has ten inspire cards, while the neutrals have sixty.
Exodus packs are not for sale anymore, but they can be purchased on secondary markets. Boosters are also available to increase your chance of getting a rare card.
Meanwhile, Heroes are the explorers of Dark Country lands. These assets are crucial to the city building and Dark Country lands exploring organically implemented campaigns in classic card game modes.
Dark Country Introduces Digital Real Estate
Lands provide Landlords access to Adventure zones. All lands have their own unique set of buildings that can be built and upgraded in order to improve the gameplay abilities of players and buff heroes for their exploration and farming.
For the Landlord — the main idea is to make your Land as attractive as possible — and engage as many users as possible. It can be done via hosting various activities, building constructions, upgrades — everything that will increase Land’s influence.
From the user-hero perspective, the gameplay will require a Land plot to start at (this can be yours or belong to somebody else) and a “Deck” with a minimum of 5 Dark Country cards. Choose a land, make a deck with the best cards you have — and trust your luck.
Card game PvP battles will now “take place” on Lands, rewarding players and Landowners with Shadow Dimes for the core in-game activity.
Another activity that landowners can set up is expeditions. Basically, every weekend Dark Country owners can open the Portal to the center of the map within their land by paying Shadow Dimes. The expedition has 25 levels and increasing difficulty. Lands also facilitate passive PvE activities. Basically, players build decks around their heroes, send them on short quests, and get rewarded with game resources and Shadow Dimes.
Card leasing is an upcoming land feature that allows landlords to build a hub that will allow all the players to lend or borrow cards.
NFTs, tokens and Play to Earn Mechanisms
As the Dark Country is a multichain NFT-game, the DC World map is divided into several continents, each one designed for a different Blockchain. At the center of each Continent Map lies a Dark Portal — the [0;0] point, which is a prime source of in-game currency — the Shadow Dimes, and a place to go on quests and farming other resources.
Lands generate Shadow Dimes currency for both landlords and players. Moreover, DC Lands are valuable assets that can be sold and traded as NFTs. Every day landowners split 0,0001% of the remaining supply of SDM. So the more influence a land parcel has, the more SDM it will receive.
The developers have set the basic influence of a land parcel to 100, and it can’t get lower than that. However, land closer to the center of the world will have a higher influence level. Landowners can increase their influence multiplier by creating activities. Influence deflates as well. Simply put, influence shoots up when there’s activity and slowly drops when activity drops.
Landowners can reduce the deflation reduction by staking SDM on their land. For example, 1 million SDM would give a 5% deflation reduction, all the way up to 50%. In short, stake SDM on your land and influence levels will stay a bit higher.
