There seems to be no end to celebrities aping into the Bored Ape Yacht Club! American comedian and actor, Dave Chappelle is likely the latest to buy a Bored Ape. An account with the ENS domain davidchappelle.eth bought a BAYC NFT for 99 ETH yesterday. However, Chappelle is yet to confirm if it’s really him.
“@DaveChappelle just purchased @BoredApeYC #8343 for 99 ETH ($371,343.06) Welcome,” tweeted Grumpkins NFT creator @Helloimmorgan. “Wallet created today, and ENS held the domain davidchappelle.eth for him and allowed him to mint 2 it hours ago.”
More on Dave Chapelle’s Bored Ape
Apparently, Dave Chapelle bought Bored Ape #8343 for around $371,000. It features rare traits like Pimp Coat (only 0.8% in existence) and Army Hat (3%). Some of the other traits include Sad Eyes, Brown Fur, Silver stud Earring, and Grin Mouth.
Some Twitter users are sceptical about the purchase as Chapelle’s OpenSea account also owns eddiegriffin.eth. Eddie Griffin is another American comedian. So, all we can do right now is to wait for Chapelle to confirm (or deny) the purchase.
Celebrities and BAYC
Recently, a slew of celebrities has aped into the hit BAYC collection. Just days back the iconic rapper, Eminem bought BAYC #9055 for $461,868.42. The ape, which sports hip hop clothes, features traits like an army hat, white fur, and closed eyes.
Another notable celebrity in the BAYC family is Snoop Dog. He clearly went all in as he owns a full set of BAYC with pink fur—a Bored Ape, an M1 and an M2 Mutant, and their companion Bored Ape Kennel NFTs. Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon, Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry, Music stars Diplo, DJ Khaled, Martin Garrix, and Future are some of the others on the list.
