The Deadmau5 Series 2 NFT drop has landed. The dance music producer’s new collaboration with creative agency RAREZ arrived on WAX blockchain last week, with a public sale beginning on 26th August.
The second instalment again involves trading card non-fungible tokens featuring iconography linked to the artist. Much like Series 1, this iteration will include Standard and Mega Packs. Respectively priced at $9.95 and $29.95, this time cards come in a different colour scheme to the first series.
Deadmau5 Series 2 NFT Rarity Levels
The Deadmau5 Series 2 NFT trading cards exist on varying rarity levels, and these differ from the first drop. Each token will sit in either Pins, Basic, Black, Silver, or Gold rarity level. Pins is the most common. In addition, a handful of Ultra Rare cards have been created, which holders can use to redeem against a guest list space at a forthcoming performance.
The deadmau5 Series 2 NFT drop again uses WAX Blockchain: the most transacted blockchain ecosystem for NFTs, dApps, and video games. Deadmau5 is the latest in a string of high-profile artists to create music NFTs. Japanese pop-metal chart-toppers Babymetal are among the recent bands to use the platform.
As for RAREZ, the company was founded last year specifically to bring creators from the music world into NFTs. Founded by the team behind emanate.live, alongside Dean Wilson and Joel Zimmerman, it oversaw the first deadmau5 NFT drop. The firm has also worked with the likes of Dillon Francis and the band Weezer.
In other music non-fungible news, Virtual Circle is the new streaming platform offering free tokens to classical music fans. Meanwhile, social network TikTok recently announced a partnership with music streaming service Audius.
