Decentraland’s Active Users At An All Time Low

In surprising news, the number of active users participating in the Decentraland metaverse game is at an all-time low. This information comes to us from stats by DappRadar, a well-respected web3 data tracking site. In fact, the stats suggest that the situation is incredibly dire, and shows that the metaverse space is essentially unused.

Today, the DappRadar tracking stats show that there have been only 42 active users in the last 24 hours. However, Decentraland has quickly responded to the latest figures, labeling the figures as ‘misinformation.’ Instead, they offer their own stats and data to back up a higher number of users. So, how many people are using Decentraland, and why are Decentraland users disappearing?

Decentraland has less than 50 active users per day, according to stats from DappRadar.

Are Decentraland active users disappearing?

The data from DappRadar is mind-blowing, and will certainly raise concerns in companies looking to invest in the Decentraland metaverse. The metaverse company that combines NFTs, virtual land, and metaverse technology has a valuation of over $1 billion, but if the stats are correct, that might change. Notably, active users are determined as spending in-game using Decentraland’s cryptocurrency, MANA.

Significantly, the Decentraland subReddit is also remarkably quiet, with hardly any engagement. One post labeling the DappRadar figures as inaccurate has only gained ten comments in over a day. Interestingly, half of them affirm the view of the low Decentraland active user stats.

Decentraland addresses user issues

However, Decentraland has rebutted these low-user claims. In a tweet, Decentraland spoke about the controversy surrounding the number of active daily users, stating “Lately, there has been a lot of misinformation on the number of active users of Decentraland. Some websites track only specific smart contract transactions but report them as daily active users DAU, which is inaccurate.”

Over the next few months, it will be interesting to see what happens and whether the DappRadar stats are correct. If the low active user stats are right, it could have massive implications for the future of this metaverse game project.
