Delbo and Diplo Release NFTs for Justice Charity

    By Reethu RaviMay 30, 2021Updated:September 21, 20222 Mins Read

DC and Marvel comic artist José Delbo and DJ Diplo released a series of NFTs in honour of Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Thursday, May 27. Made in collaboration with 3D animator Vùho and comic colourist Ross Campbell, all proceeds of the sales will go to The Legaler Aid charity.

The new series, started by Legaler Aid, aims to pay homage to justice heroes at the forefront of equal and fair justice. The proceeds will help to fund free legal aid to the eviction crisis.

Delbo and Diplo have together created the first work in the series, titled Justice Reigns Supreme. It features feminist icon Ruth Bader Ginsburg—popularly known as RBG—who passed away in September 2020. A trailblazer for women’s rights, RBG was crucial in the legal fight for gender equality.

With these NFTs, Legaler Aid aims to honour her legacy and her contributions to the world.

Amid the economic repercussions of the pandemic, donations for charity have drastically declined. As a result, startups and individuals alike have been turning to NFTs to support various charities.

For instance, digital artist Beeple sold an NFT for $6 million to raise funds for the Open Earth Foundation to combat climate change, reported BeInCrypto. In another example, NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden auctioned an NFT for $5.4 million. The proceeds from this sale will go to the Freedom of the Press Foundation, where Snowden is the president.

As NFTs continue to rise in popularity, more artists are coming forward to leverage their NFT arts for charity. NFTs seem to be the next frontier in fundraising.
