Dictador, a Colombian rum brand, will release NFTs as part of its “Orlinski 5 Decades” project. Sculptor, Richard Orlinski has partnered with the luxury rum maker to create special bottles based on his work. Dictador is selling three of the NFTs on BlockBar, a platform that sells NFTs from luxury liquor brands.
Each NFT Pairs Up With A Physical Bottle Of Dictador Rum
Dictador Rum and Richard Orlinski teamed up for “Orlinski 5 Decades”, which includes physical bottles of rum, as well as the NFTs.
To clarify, both the rum bottles paired with the NFTs and the purely physical bottles of rum are created by Orlinski. Indeed, the gorilla figure of the rum bottles is based on Orlinski’s “Wild Kong” series of sculptures.
In addition, the vintages span the decades from the 1970s to the 200s. The non-NFT bottles of rum come in five different colorways, with 100 bottles of each. What’s more, there’s an additional 25 bottles, hand-painted by Orlinski himself.
As far as the bottles of rum attached to an NFT, there are only six. Not to mention that Dictador is only selling three of them at this time. Each Dictador rum NFT is selling for 11 ETH on BlockBar.
For his part, Orlinski is a vocal fan of NFTs and what they mean for the art world. The artist previously worked with musician, Ozuna on an NFT collection back in May of this year.
BlockBar Capitalizes On Alcohol Brands’ Entry Into NFTs
The Dictador rum NFTs are currently available on BlockBar. The NFT marketplace deals exclusively with NFTs from luxury alcohol companies. For instance, Dictador previously sold 10 bottles of a rare vintage rum via NFT on BlockBar.
Each NFT on BlockBar pairs up with the actual bottle of liquor that it represents. Significantly this is a real-world use case for NFTs as a proof of ownership method.
To illustrate, buyers of the NFT can use it to claim their actual bottle of Dictador rum. Of course, they can also sell the NFT later on BlockBar. In other words, real-world ownership of the bottles will be authenticated exclusively by these NFTs.
At any rate, given how pervasive NFTs have been in pretty much every industry at this point, it’s no surprise that Dictador is already doing its second NFT rum collection. We can certainly expect to see companies in its industry following suit.
