To the community’s delight, Digital Sneakers Powerhouse RTFKT Studios just teased the launch of an upcoming NFT Avatar Project.
So why exactly is this a big deal when new NFT Collectible and Avatar projects are launching left and right? Furthermore, OG Projects like CryptoPunks are still dominating the space.
Well, the RTFKT Studios made history this February after selling $3.1 Million worth of digital NFT sneakers in just seven minutes. Moreover, the NFT innovator raised $8 Million in Funding to “create the future fashion for the Metaverse.”

Based on the project’s Discord Channel, the working title of the NFT Avatar Project is “Akira.” The avatars will be fully 3D high-end avatars ready for the Metaverse. All traits are custom modeled and no kit-bashing. In terms of the launch date, the team said, “Our Avatar project is coming when it’s ready.” So their estimate is at the end of September or Mid October.
In connection with the upcoming NFT Avatar Project, the team launched Creator Challenge #17: Akira. The announcement reads: “Design a trait for our project, receive cash, and lock a spot in the history books by taking part in RTFKT’s avatar project.”
Take note that this challenge is exclusively for RTFKT Creators. If you want to be one, you can submit your portfolio to the team. The best part is that there is no cap on the winners. All winners will have their traits included in the project.
