Two months after the announcement, Dolce & Gabbana officially launched its debut NFT Collection. “Collezione Genesi ” is a one-of-a-kind, 9-piece collection personally designed by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.
The Collezione Genesi auction will start on September 20th on Polygon-backed Marketplace UNXD. If you want to score the NFTs, you need to follow the auction diligently because there will be different closing dates for each item category from September 28-30th.
Collezione Genesi: Dolce & Gabbana’s Debut NFT Collection
As promised, the collection draws inspiration from the rich artistic history and traditions of the iconic city of Venice. D&G is dedicating the first day to “Alta Moda,” which is the high-fashion or haute couture segment. Then, it’s followed by Alta Sartoria, which focuses on high-level formal wear. Finally, on the third day, “Alta Gioielleria” will hit the runway featuring fine jewelry.
Based on the promotional video on Youtube the pieces are as follows:
- Dress from A Dream – one gold and one silver, both encrusted with opulent embroidered images of colorful hand-blown goblets.
- The Glass Suit
- The Impossible Tiara
- The Impossible Jacket
- The Lion Crown
- The Doge Crown
The first concept is titled “Dress from A Dream” because it is based on a vivid dream from the creativity of the designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.
The collection will feature the digital versions of five physical pieces (two dresses, a men’s suit, and two crowns). The remaining four items in the NFT collection are entirely bespoke virtual designs. The best part? All nine pieces can be used in the metaverse as wearables.
Each piece from the collection will be auctioned as an NFT package that includes the physical and digital versions. Additionally, future NFT holders will also receive the original sketches by the designer duo and multiple access passes to future D&G shows.
Just the Beginning
The high-fashion brand believes that “this collection represents the future of NFTs. A way for the metaverse and the universe to not only coexist but to be both integrated and additive.” Sharing more about the partnership, the brand explained: “We’ve spent a great deal of time thinking about how to create an amazing experience for our collectors and community.”
“This is a celebration of human artistry and craftsmanship. Of what humans can do that machines simply cannot on their own. These creations, both digital and physical, are magical. They took thousands upon thousands of hours to craft. They will 100% end up in a museum one day.”
The brand also affirmed that the “museum-grade” 9-piece collection, Collezione Genesi, would form the foundation of the future NFT Project. So this NFT drop is just the beginning of the story. Winning collectors or hodlers can also be assured there will be more exclusive surprises for them in the future.
D&G also offered words of gratitude to its partner, Polygon blockchain and the early supporters. “The @0xPolygon team have truly been incredible supporters of what we’re building. Thank you also to the many collectors and investors who spent time with us over the past few weeks. The list is too numerous to include here, but we really value your feedback and suggestions.”
