One of the worlds largest and most established betting companies, DraftKings, is venturing into the world of NFTs through its partnership with The National Football Players Association (NFLPA). The new NFTs featuring sports players will feature on their website in time for the 2022/23 NFL season.
NFTs are a new Venture for DraftKings
DraftKings inc, an established fantasy sports brand, has partnered with the NFLPA to launch NFTs. One Team Partners, the licencing partner for the NFLPA, broke the news on Tuesday. The NFTs will launch on the DraftKings website in line with the 2022/23 NFL season and feature key sports players.
Furthermore, the NFTs will be able to be gamified in the future, giving people the opportunity to use them in games, they will be able to be sold on marketplaces and be able to be bought.
The partnership between DraftKings and the NFLPA has been long in the making. Earlier this year, DraftKings announced a partnership with Polygon to help scale up and introduce blockchain solutions. Thus, DraftKing has been preparing to dive into the NFT space for a while.
It is an interesting move by the sports betting company. Its decision to introduce an NFT likely being down to wanting to get ahead of the competition. Flutter Entertainment is yet another betting agency trying to break into NFTs. Its partnership with the NFLPA will help bolster its position within the NFT space.
