American rapper Torey Lanez enticed fellow rapper Drake to release an NFT collection. He said that Drake could probably make $50 million USD. This comes after Lanez released 1 million albums as NFTs which were each available to purchase for $1. This launch pocketed him $1 million.
What Would Happen if Drake released NFTs?
Torey Lanez was recently interviewed by ‘The Nelk Boys’ and they discussed NFTs. After speaking about other rappers in the space like Snoop Dogg, Lanez claimed that “If Drake comes to the platform right now, Drake could probably make $50 million”
If Drake followed Torey Lanez’s advice in releasing NFTs, he could make a fortune and we could also see a major bull run in the NFT space. Drake is absolutely one of the biggest names in the world right now.
To depict the size of his potential audience who would buy his NFTs, Drake has 100 million followers on Instagram. Also, Drake attracts 10s or 100s of thousands of fans to concerts.
In contrast, all-time Opensea users who have made at least one transaction currently sits at 942,721 (as of 8th January 2022, per Dune Analytics). This is less than 1% of Drake’s Instagram followers at the time of writing.
