Dungeon Universe is officially joining the play-to-earn foray with the release of its first trailer. The Enjin-powered NFT Game shines the spotlight on engaging MMO gameplay elements such as dungeons and raids. Moreover, NFTs will be at the forefront of the upcoming game through in-game assets, rewards and a player-driven economy.
Dungeon Universe is an open-world MMORPG that promises to offer “intense action by using blockchain technology in every aspect of the game.” So the game centers on NFT items that increase the player’s attack, defense, or special effects.
What we know from the trailer
The two-minute trailer enumerated every element of the ecosystem from the detailed environment and massive landscapes up to opportunities of players for financial gain. Basically, the game items are NFTs, so players can trade and sell them for profit. These include weapons, jewelry, pets and materials.
In terms of the gameplay, Dungeon Universe will offer endless battles with monsters, group and solo dungeons, raids, world bosses, Arenas, mythic towers and much more. Moreover, there will be plenty of content for solo adventurers or players that enjoy grouping up with their friends or guilds.
Dungeon Universe takes place in the world of Arania, where monsters now dominate. The trailer prominently displayed Midcreek. This is a town busting with merchants, fellow adventurers and stunning architecture. This is where players barter for items or sell their freshly acquired loot. They can also specialize in certain services, for example, to enchant weapons or assist other players in raids. Initially, there will be 3 different professions (wizard, scout and fighter), but more may be added down the line.
According to the website, players can also look forward to skins and emotes. This means that if you are a player, you can express yourself with your favorite dance move or the rare skin you obtained while killing mobs. Both skins and emotes will be obtainable as a drop or via special & seasonal events.
What’s the Hook of the Game and Why Enjin?
Just like the leading play-to-earn game Axie Infinity, the game plans to reward players for their time. The developers teased that this may start with the weapons and armor. However, it will evolve with rare recipes, pets, player housing, materials and much more that are yet to be discovered.
The team admitted that “choosing the technology that powers the core functions was not an easy task.” They decided that Enjn is the perfect fit because of its technology and track record as a pioneer in NFTs and trusted provider of millions of users. About 40 game companies are using it so far and Enjin has built bridges to other platforms such as Ethereum. Furthermore, Enjin raised $18.9 Million from a private sale to expand its grasp in NFT-based games and other applications. So Dungeon Universe is definitely in good hands.
If the game is your cup of tea, you have to wait for 2 more months because the team plans to release an early version by the end of the year. In addition, they will sell supporter NFTs that offer cosmetics and quality of life improvements in an effort to fund the development of the game. You can follow their progress through Twitter.
