The Wall Street Wizards Academy, an urban youth financial literacy group, is hosting the Crypto Convo on February 21! The group’s first annual youth finance and investment summit is a free virtual event targeting ages 16-25 attendees. It also celebrates Black History Month by teaching financial literacy and equity to youth of color.
The Crypto Convo
The summit’s main objective is fostering financial literacy and career preparedness amongst young people. So the topics would specifically cover emerging Web3 technologies like DeFi, blockchain, cryptocurrency, DAOs, and metaverses.
The Wall Street Wizards Academy plans to elevate the event by releasing its own NFTs. They think this is the most effective way to bring further awareness and engagement to the younger age group. In addition, they want to position the NFTs as an accessible entry point for youth who are curious about where to start. Proceeds from the NFT sales will fund future initiatives of the organization.
The organizers assembled an impressive line-up of educators for the event. WSWA founder William (Bill) Thomason and media expert Lauren Sanders will moderate The Crypto Convo. John Salley, four-time NBA champion, TV personality, entrepreneur and host of The John Salley Crypto Show, will kickstart the program. In addition, Second Life creator Philip Rosedale will give a keynote speech.
Rosedale shared that he decided to support the event because he looks forward to what the next generation will build. He added, “virtual worlds shouldn’t be dystopias, and I’m hopeful that the industry’s future creators will create positive, enriching spaces for their residents.”
Furthermore, executives from Roblox, Gemini, Redwoods Crypto, Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, RedPoint Ventures and Dr. Boyce Watkins will lead the panel discussion. Attendees will be able to post questions to speakers live and participate in audience polls to guide the conversation as it unfolds.
