Extremely popular Seattle-based artist, FEWOCiOUS has sold a 1/1 NFT and physical piece of art for $2.8 million at a Sotheby’s Auction. The artist, whose real name is Victor Langlois is one of the most successful crypto artists in the space.
About the Sale of the FEWOCiOUS NFT
FEWOCiOUS’ ‘Nice to meet you, I’m Mr MiSUNDERSTOOD’ sold at Sotheby’s fine-art auction house. Actually, the lot sold at a final price of £2,072,000 GBP. His artwork aimed to explore notions of freedom, isolation and exploration.
The digital piece was in MP4 format. However, the winning bidder also received a physical copy. Also included in the lot, a custom suitcase from the upcoming FEWOCiOUS clothing line drop cointaining; 1/1 hand-painted jeans, jacket, shirt, and shoes.
He spent the week in London around the auction, and emphatically claimed: “It was amazing, it’s beautiful!”.
FEWOCiOUS is an 18-year-old digital artist, now living in Seattle. Originally, he grew up in Las Vegas but has spoken openly of his struggles there. Actually, his art reflects the childhood struggles at home and school, plus the gender transition he went through. Now, he also makes art about the joy of freedom of expression.
Victor joined the NFT space in August 2020 after stumbling upon it accidentally. In fact, regarding the ever-growing sales of his art, Victor says he’s “shocked”.
FEWOCiOUS’ reaction to this sale on Sotheby’s was simply “woah”, as he Tweeted yesterday. In addition to these insane sale numbers, the sale of his NFTs even crashed the Christie’s website when his work was being auctioned off. FEWOCiOUS has an unreal amount of potential in the space, at only 18-years-old. Victor undoubtedly has a long art future ahead of him. And actually, we can’t wait to see what is next.
