Free NFTs To Be Given To All Super Bowl Attendees

    By Ross WardropFebruary 5, 2022Updated:September 21, 20222 Mins Read

The NFL is giving out free NFTs to all attendees of the Super Bowl. This is in an attempt to make a more memorable day for those who go to the event on Sunday. In addition to this, cryptocurrency companies’ adverts will feature at the event.

About the Free Super Bowl NFTs

The NFL and Ticketmaster are set to give free NFTs to attendees of the Super Bowl. At the fixture of Rams vs Bengals, fans will be given a virtual ticket NFT, almost like a POAP (proof of attendance protocol). In addition to these commemorative NFT tickets, the NFL plans to sell a series of seven historic commemorative NFTs, everyday beginning February 6th until February 13th.

The venue of choice, SoFi Stadium, holds 70,240 spectators. So theoretically that’s the number of NFTs that will be given out. However, not all of these will be claimed, so the number will be lower, making these NFTs rarer.

This of course isn’t the first time that the NFL and Ticketmaster have worked together in producing NFTs, they recently produced some NFTs for a few regular-season games this year.

The popularity of NFT tickets follows from the collection of ticket stubs from major events. Recently, in December, a physical stub from Michael Jordan’s NBA debut sold for $264,000 at auction. This broke the record for the most expensive collectible sports ticket ever sold.

    About the Super Bowl

On Sunday next week, 13th February, the Cincinnati Bengals take on the Los Angeles Rams in the biggest fixture of American Football, the Super Bowl. The game will be played interestingly at the Rams’ home stadium: SoFi Stadium. But the Bengals will officially be classed as the home team due to the randomised decision. At the famous half-time show, we’re set to see a star-studded line-up of Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar. The LA Rams are the favourites to come out victorious on the night, but of course, anything can happen.
