Ever dreamt of being a real-life football team manager? Or call the plays of a football match? Now you can do so by owning a piece of Fan Controlled Football (FCF) NFTs.
Dubbed the Ballerz Collective NFTs, the collection debuted in February this year. There are four collections in total, with each collection containing 8,888 NFT avatars. Owning a Baller means you get to manage one of the four FCF football teams. Besides that, holders can enjoy IRL and gaming utilities that come along with the NFT.
Fan Controlled Football embraces NFTs
As the name suggests, Fan Controlled Football allows viewers to make key decisions and collectively call the plays in real-time football matches. In fact, FCF hosts professional sports leagues led by some of the big names in American Football such as Marshawn Lynch and Richard Sherman.
According to FCF, for its second season starting on 16 April, NFT holders get to control one of the four Ballerz Collective NFT teams. These four teams are:
- The Gutter Cat Gang (Kingpins)
- The Bored Ape Yacht Club (Bored Ape FC)
- Knights of Degen
- Team 8OKI
And the most exciting part is that each team is led by prominent creators together with NFL stars. For instance, The Gutter Cat Gang is led by King BlackBored and former NFL legend Jamal Anderson. Next, Team 8OKI is led by none other than the famous musician Steve Aoki himself and 888, the legendary founder of 888 Inner Circle. At the time of writing, Bored Ape FC is sold out. But there are few spots available for the other three teams.
Final thoughts
As NFT technology matures, more utilities will emerge. One of them is making user-controlled content as demonstrated by Fan Controlled Football. In fact, FCF is not alone in this regard. Previously, Fireside and Angry Lunch launched an NFT TV show which allows audiences to influence the production along the way. With Fan Controlled Football kicking off this novel approach, we believe more sports and entertainment platforms will follow suit.
