American rock band, Kings of Leon have teamed up with Elon Musk at SpaceX, and St Jude Children’s Research Hospital to take an NFT to space. It will be sent to space via an iPhone that’ll be given to civilian Astronaut, Hayley Arceneaux as a part of Inspiration4.
Kings of Leon NFT History
Kings of Leon have already made a name for themselves in the NFT space. They were the first major band to release an album as an NFT. It came before Torey Lanez released his album, which ultimately turned platinum. The band are clearly huge believers in the space, and we may see them involved in many more projects.
An NFT in Space?
The spaceflight, scheduled to launch from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, will contain 51 NFTs, including Kings of Leon’s, which you can bid on in an auction that will support St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, via Yellowheart. The auction winner will receive both the NFT and the iPhone. In addition to this, the chance to meet Kings of Leon and the crew of the Inspiration4. Additional perks will be revealed after the auction closes. Presently, the auction price of the NFT is $50,000 or around 14 ETH and the auction ends in 8 days (20th of September). Another key point is that the NFT is a vertical video with a live performance of Kings of Leon’s song, Time in Disguise playing in the background. Coincidentally, the lead singer of the band, Caleb Followill was born in St. Jude’s in Tennesee.
Overall, the future of NFTs may be affected by this insane feat. Maybe we see NFTs go to the moon sometime in the near future… literally. This project will prove whether or not NFTs in space work out well commercially. And whether or not it gets more people involved in the space. In addition, we may even see NFTs go beyond the moon and to Mars if the world’s multi-billionaires space plans go successfully.
