Kumail Nanjiani Charity SBTs: How Does It Help Pakistan Flood Victims?
Soul Bound Tokens (SBTs) are different from NFTs. SBTs cannot be transferred or stolen to or from other wallets. The SBTs are also more social identity tokens and “stick” to the owners’ wallets. Therefore, SBTs have critical use cases in building reputation, communities with long-term ties, and identity management. The Marvel actor will launch the tokens on Superfandom’s website.
The charity auction offers five types of SBTs at different price points. Furthermore, this auction will be open for 48 hours and the proceeds will go to the Alkhidmat Foundation. The foundation is one of Pakistan’s most impactful humanitarian organizations helping flood victims.
Recent Pakistan floods displaced over 16 million children, with 3 million children in need of immediate intensive care. Pakistan also saw 45% of its total agricultural lands wiped out as a result of this catastrophe. Moreover, the flood waters caused over $30 billion in damages in what experts are calling “the biggest humanitarian catastrophe of this decade.”
“Over 33 million people’s lives have been upended by these floods. That’s more than the whole population of Texas. Homes and livelihoods were wiped away from one day to the next. I hope you join me in helping them rebuild and start their lives over in any way you can,” said Kumail Nanjiani. The SBTs by Superfandom is a new type of Bitcoin token by blockchain developers Stacks and Hiro. Hiro provides the scalability solutions that help the project build on Stacks. Additionally, Stacks is a secure, open-source blockchain network building the decentralized apps and smart contracts.
