The much-awaited NFT collection by Lionel Messi, one of the greatest international football players, is live on Ethernity! The Argentine footballer star had first announced the collection, called ‘Messiverse’, early this month.
Australia-based digital designer BossLogic, famous for his work with Disney and Marvel Studios, created three of the four NFTs. Meanwhile, London-based digital artist Impossible Brief created the fourth NFT. The collection launched on Ethernity Chain on Saturday, August 21.

“Our vision for the collaboration with Lionel and Bosslogic was to merge the physical world with the digital, allowing fans around the world to engage with a coveted collection coming straight from one of the world’s greatest soccer players,” Ethernity CEO Nick Rose was quoted by Crypto Daily.
“This collaboration with Lionel was not only a dream come true but a huge milestone for the Ethernity team,” he further said.
The collection consists of a total of four pieces. “The Golden One” is a 1 of 1 NFT by BossLogic and features the football star as the “gold standard” of the sport. It will be up for auction for 72 hours and has a reserve price of $50,000. At the time of writing, it had a bid of a whopping $1,128,815. With more than a day left for the auction to complete, we can expect the bids to skyrocket!
Next on the list is “Man From Tomorrow” and “Man Of The Past”. The collectible is the first-ever to feature Messi in his new Number 30 Paris St Germain (PSG) jersey. A total of 75 editions of these futuristic NFTs were available for $10,000 in ERN.
Meanwhile, “The King Piece” is the third NFT in the collection. In this, the football star is surrounded by chess pieces and is depicted as the King. 2500 editions of this NFT were available at $499 each.
Furthermore, buyers of both the second and third NFT will be added to a raffle and stands a chance to win a signed jersey of Messi.
“The Magician” by Impossible Brief
Ethernity unveiled the final NFT in the collection, called “The Magician”, yesterday. Officially licensed by Copa America and Messi, the piece commemorates Argentina’s historic victory against Brazil in Copa America. It was both Argentina’s and Messi’s first major international win in decades.
These Open Edition NFTs by Impossible Brief costs $50. “Working with Messi is a dream come true for the Impossible Brief team, who are all huge football fans,” the artists noted in a statement.
With his debut collection, Messi joins a slew of sports stars who have entered the NFT space. For example, another Football Icon, Ronaldinho, announced his NFT collection last month. Meanwhile, just days back, the Muhammad Ali NFT collection sold out for over $150,000 in less than eight minutes.
