Is it any surprise that Brooklyn, NY is home to what might be the first ever NFT café? Well, that is the mantle that Lion’s Milk proudly claims! The café currently displays a rotating collection of NFT avatars on screens in its store.
Lion’s Milk May Be The First NFT Café, But It Likely Won’t Be The Last
It’s important to note that the Lion’s Milk Twitter highlights that it displays profile picture NFTs, which those in the space refer to as PFPs. Therefore, it might not be the first when it comes to all kinds of NFTs. While it’s not clear exactly when Lion’s Milk officially became an NFT café, it did tweet several photos of its NFT displays during November’s NFT NYC event.
Regardless, the Williamsburg café/bar seems likely to be a favored spot for coffee-loving NFT owners in Brooklyn. Indeed, with its digital photo frames of varying NFTs, its Mutant Ape Twitter PFP, and even a “.eth” name on Twitter, Lion’s Milk is putting its NFT community markers front and center. However, that isn’t to say that Lion’s Milk isn’t doing more to make itself a certified NFT location.
For one thing, it seems to be working on accepting crypto payments in store (though ETH may not be the best way to pay for your latte… even the cheapest gas fees would eclipse the price of a coffee many times over). The coffeeshop is also looking to host events for NFT communities. As a matter of fact, its first ever private event was for holders of the Fluffy Polar Bears NFT. Evidently that event took place a few weeks ago during NFT NYC.
At any rate, we’ve already seen IRL NFT Galleries become more popular. So it makes sense that we are starting to see venues like cafes and bars also embrace the ever-growing industry.
