MakersPlace NFT marketplace confirms investment from Sony Music and Eminem, among others, with $30million raised from the latest funding round.
The San Francisco startup also has financial backing from Bessemer Venture Partners and Pantera Capita. Uncork Capital, Draper Dragon Digital Assets and 9Yards Capital are listed, too. As are Coinbase Ventures.
Meanwhile, strategic investors include music heads Eminem, Paul Rosenberg, and 3LAU. Of course, the arts community is in on the action as well. Backing from Acquavella Galleries, Sabrina Hahn, and Bill Ruprecht is confirmed. Eric Baker, Julia and Kevin Hartz, Vinny Lingham, and Tobias Lütk have also seized the opportunity, all of who come from the tech scene.

MakersPlace user numbers grew tenfold in 2021, and the platform has facilitated over $100million in transactions this year. Remarkably, Beeple’s ‘Everydays: The First 5000 Days’ accounted for $69million alone. The auction broke all previous records.
Prior to the new investment, MakersPlace already secured $2million in funding. It was founded by Dannie Chu, Yash Nelapati (both ex-Pinterest), and Ryoma Ito.
“We see this fundraise as continued validation for our mission,” Chu said in statement on the MakersPlace website. “We will continue to push boundaries and empower digital creators with better tools and services, while finding more ways to introduce digital art and NFTs to a mainstream collector audience.”
