Backstory: Melania Trump’s First Foray into NFTs
Her maiden NFT offering is titled “Melania’s Vision” and features watercolor-style artwork of her own cobalt blue eyes. French artist Marc-Antoine Coulon created the piece. The press release asserts that it will provide the future collector “an amulet to inspire.” In addition, it includes an audio recording from Melania Trump “with a message of hope.”
A portion of the proceeds from Melania Trump’s NFT collection will be used for charity. “I am proud to announce my new NFT endeavor, which embodies my passion for the arts, and will support my ongoing commitment to children through my Be Best initiative,” Trump said in a statement.
“Through this new technology-based platform, we will provide children computer science skills, including programming and software development, to thrive after they age out of the foster community.”
The Melania Trump NFT platform will run on Solana and will accept both the SOL cryptocurrency and credit card payments. You can purchase the NFTs by the end of the year for the price of 1 SOL or approximately 150$.
Any Long-Term Plan?
Trump said she plans to launch a “one-of-a-kind auction of historical importance” in January 2022. She teased that it would include three elements: “digital artwork, physical artwork and a physical one-of-a-kind accessory.”
As early as now, this NFT drop is drawing in mixed reactions. After all, Former President Donald Trump famously said that he’s “not a fan” of Bitcoin. However, his wife seems to be into it for the long haul!
