Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda released his generative mixtape ZIGGURATS on Spotify and as expected, the NFTs sold out in a matter of minutes. The co-vocalist of the alt-metal band released the music NFT artwork Collection last December 2 on the Tezos blockchain. Then, he dropped it on streaming services the day after, December 3.
Mike Shinoda’s NFT Release
Shinoda designed 5000 unique audio + visual NFTs for the ZIGGURATS NFT project. So each NFT features fresh art and music from the globally acclaimed musician. Visually and musically, no two items are the same, but some are rarer.
According to the website, the project drew inspiration from ancient Mesopotamia’s tall layered structure. People believed that Gods lived in the temple at the top, so they built it with great care, effort, and creativity. Likewise, this project is built upon layers of effort and devotion, some elements many years in the making.
In a press release, Shinoda shared why he chose Tezos for the mixtape’s release.
“I chose Tezos because it’s a green blockchain, with one of the lowest carbon footprints of any popular chain. We’ve all bought an app we’ own,’ like Microsoft Word or a music plug-in or an item in a game. But those items are unlimited in number. The difference here is that the NFTs are limited edition, highlighting the value of authenticity, rarity and originality.”
The drop is over but you can still listen to the tracks on ziggurats.xyz featuring the following tracklist:
1. “Genius Bar”
2. “Richard Bachman”
3. “Cheat Codes”
4. “CTRL C CTRL V”
