The latest work from Muse’s Matt Bellamy is NFT ready. The band’s frontman is releasing recordings from his solo album, Cryosleep, in non-fungible form.
So what exactly does that mean? Simply put, Bellamy has decided to mint a series of tokens from the limited edition ten-track LP, which includes the songs ‘Pray’, taken from the soundtrack to ‘Game of Thrones’, and a cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s classic, ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’.
Don’t get too excited, though. Neither of those songs actually feature in the NFT series. Instead, buyers can pick between the tracks ‘Guiding Light’, ‘Tomorrow World’ and ‘Unintended’. The idea being that fans can get their hands on tunes from the record in advance of its August release on streaming platforms, if they haven’t already bagged one of the limited release vinyl copies out this week for Record Store Day.
Muse and Matt Bellamy NFT?
In order to stand a chance of grabbing one of the three non-fungible tokens, you will need to get involved in one of three auctions — each for a different track. The bidding will begin at midnight EST on 16th July on the Cryptograph platform.
As for Muse, at the moment there’s no word on whether any of the band’s collective work will be heading for the NFT world. However, they did just re-release their landmark album, ‘Origin of Symmetry’ as a 20th anniversary remix.
This is the latest example of a rock ‘n’ roll legend diving into the non-fungible world. Last week, Joe Bonamassa revealed he was experimenting with NFTs, as did the Abbott Brothers of Pantera.
