Mutant Bio-Morphans is a weird and wonderful upcoming collection of beautifully illustrated NFTs. The NFT mutants, which feature some exciting evolution mechanics, will launch next week on the cross-chain NFT marketplace, LastKnown.
Let’s learn all about these adorable Mutants and how they came to be.

Everything you need to know about Mutant Bio-Morphans
Mutant Bio-Morphans is a collection of 1,200 colorful mutants on the Ethereum blockchain. The creators of the NFT are the Dutch illustration duo Laurens and Chantal Schellekens, aka Loulou & Tummie. These wacky characters take their inspiration from old robots, toy monsters, and 80s cartoon mutants. Not only that, but they also have fun lore behind them that tells the story of how these awesome mutants came to be.
Basically, the origin of the Mutant Bio-Morphans starts in a secret lab in the heart of the jungle. A missing professor, with his pet chicken Nacho as his only company, conducts experiments with a radioactive substance called Zynadium. As a result of these experiments, 1,200 mutant eggs are abandoned and suddenly need a home.
When people mint a Mutant Bio-Morphans NFT, they are adopting an egg that comes along with an incubator. Upon the reveal of the NFT collection, a couple of days after it sells out, these eggs will then hatch into cute little Morphan children.

The NFTs are split up by a creative rarity system
Of course, the Mutant Bio-Morphans have a rarity system built into the collection. Although it’s worth noting that being such a limited drop of 1,200 NFT, each NFT will be very rare indeed.
To explain, there are four different kinds of Morphans, with each occupying a different level of rarity. Firstly, the most common are the 1,143 Normagorfs which are anything but normal. Next are the 40 Berzörks, which are actually the first eggs that Nacho spawned (that sneaky chicken couldn’t help herself when it came to her taste for radioactive waste!)
Next are the 15 Gnarlies. These rare Morhpans got many of their traits due to one night when Nacho gobbled up the professor’s favorite toys, videotapes, and comic books while he was sleeping. Finally, there are just 2 Ultimutants – the rarest and most mysterious of the Mutant Bio-Morphans.
If all this makes you excited to adopt your very own Morphan then don’t worry – you won’t have to wait very long! The Morphans presale begins on April 12 at 4 PM UTC, with the public sale following the next day, April 13 at 4 PM UTC. The mint price for the NFTs will be 0.065 ETH and both sales will take place on the LastKnown marketplace.

Evolution is built into the experience of the NFTs
What makes the Mutant Bio-Morphans NFTs so unique is the evolution mechanics of the collection. In essence, there are five different levels of evolution for Morphans. To that end, the first two levels of evolution will happen automatically after holders’ eggs hatch into level one Morphans.
After all the Morphans are at level 3, it becomes the holder’s choice whether or not to evolve their NFTs any further. If they choose to, they’ll pay an extra 0.025 ETH for each evolution.
Having this amazing extra feature of the NFTs was vital to the creators. As Laurens Schellekens said about the project, “We wouldn’t have done this unless we can do something really different and push the boundaries well beyond the regular Profile Picture NFTs (PFP).” Significantly, Laurens notes how the evolutions also add “an interesting rarity dynamic and secondary market excitement into the mix.”

About the teams behind Mutant Bio-Morphans
Loulou & Tummie first started working on illustrations in 2004. Since then they’ve created art for global brands such as Netflix, Disney, Facebook, and PepsiCo, among others.
Their partner on the drop is the multi-chain NFT marketplace, LastKnown. The platform is from the company Blockchain Foundry. Above all, it focuses on quality artists and innovative drops.
