Non Fungible Conference, Europe’s upcoming event for non-fungible assets, will be exhibiting an interactive NFT artwork to raise money for Ukraine. The piece, entitled ‘Mariupol’, is the result of a collaborative effort between 38 artists from across the digital art space.

About Mariupol
‘Mariupol’ is a dynamic, interactive and layered artwork, collaboratively created by 38 artists. Inspired by Picasso’s ‘Guernica’, the artwork is a unique work of art that marks the beginning of a tragic chapter in Europe’s recent history.
The artwork is a “living” artwork. This is because its final appearance will depend on its eventual owner. As with other digital artworks on Async.art, collectors control the visual state of the image.
The piece has 13 different layers in total, with each level having 2 to 4 unique states. The owner can control which state will be visible for each layer. Therefore, the Master artwork will depend on the owner’s artistic taste. During the conference, 14 interested individuals have the opportunity to bid on 13 layer NFTs and 1 master NFT. All proceeds will go directly to support humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.
When speaking about this collaboration, NFC founder John Karp said: “I hope this artwork can be a testament to the power of community and collaboration, and proof that, whilst there is still too much evil and suffering in this world, there is plenty of good left in it too.”

Mariupol and Guernica
Picasso’s ‘Guernica’ is an interpretation of the bombing of Guernica in 1937. Inspired by the legendary painting, Mariupol is a modern interpretation of war.
38 artists from the crypto-art communities of The Guild, Museum of Crypto Art and Non Fungible Conference came together to create this blockchain masterpiece. Each artist provides a different interpretation of war and ‘Guernica’, depending on their style and life experience.
One of the artists, Magusz_art, commented: “This was one of the biggest challenges I had while creating something. My art style is full of vibrant and psychedelic colours and with a positive and lifting message, while this piece is all in grey and with a sad message. But that is also the beauty of it and how powerful art can be.”
Another artist, 0xMJ, said: “We are coming together to support the people suffering, in the best way we artists could- create. Hope this serves as a message that when needed the whole world can unite to fight the wrong.”
