Paris Hilton has listed some of the NFTs from her personal collection on auction house Sotheby’s new NFT marketplace, Metaverse. In a historic move, Sotheby’s had launched the Ethereum-based marketplace last week. The renowned auction house’s entry into the NFT marketplace space spells big things for the NFT industry.
On October 19, Hilton, a businesswoman, model, socialite, singer, and actress, tweeted about her NFT listing on Metaverse. “I love the amazing art work for my Natively Digital @Sothebys @Sothebysverse Auction,” she tweeted.
What’s part of Paris Hilton’s Sotheby’s NFT listing?
Paris Hilton has listed three NFTs from her collection on Sotheby’s metaverse marketplace. First on the list is “Fractures” by French graphic designer and digital artist, Alycia Rainaud, a.k.a., Maalavidaa. To design her works, she takes inspiration from her life or a culture and turn them into “bright, burning and collapsing galaxies.” Furthermore, each piece also comes with a poem or message. The NFT, meanwhile, already has a bid of $13,000 (at the time of writing).
The next NFT on the list is “Aether: Galaxy Goddess” by digital artist and musician, Serwah Attafuah. The 1/1 NFT is a sister piece to “Creation of My Metaverse (Between this World and the Next)”, which was featured in Sotheby’s first Natively Digital NFT sale. As of now, the NFT has a bid of $11,000.
“Serwah is so innovative and creative. She shows the importance of femininity and the role it plays in the universe,” Hilton was quoted by Sotheby’s. “Femininity, womanhood, and female empowerment are her main focuses and it’s stunning. There is deeper meaning hidden behind her work and it speaks volumes.”
Lastly, the third NFT Hilton has listed on Sotheby’s is “AQUARIUS – Keeper of the Amethyst Star”. It was created by Chelsea Evenstar, artist and founder of the artist collective, ‘GET NFT’. The piece was originally part of the ‘Empowered Women Empowering Women’ exhibition curated by Hilton. At the time of writing, the highest bid on this NFT was $2,600.
Hilton developed her first NFT in March 2020. Since then, she has dropped several of her NFTs and has also collected many striking pieces.
Metaverse: Sotheby’s new marketplace
Sotheby’s unveiled its new NFT marketplace alongside its second Natively Digital auction honouring NFT collectors last week. Titled ‘Natively Digital 1.2: The Collectors’, the sale includes 53 NFTs from across 19 collectors. Alongside Paris Hilton, avid NFT collectors WhaleShark, 888, Pranksy, Steve Aoki, and more, have listed NFTs from their collection on Sotheby’s marketplace.
“With Sotheby’s Metaverse, we will create a new industry ecosystem that serves as a destination for the most sophisticated digital art sales and auctions,” Sotheby’s co-head of digital art sales, Michael Bouhann, told Decrypt. This will position the auction house “at the center of some of the most important NFT industry activity.”
The auction went live on October 18. It will run for a week, before closing on October 26. If you wish to make any bids, head over to Sotheby’s Metaverse!
