The Pittsburgh Pirates NFT auction is one of three new additions to the MLB Stadium Series. A Major League Baseball NFT will release from each of the 30 teams signed up to the project, in a partnership between the league and Candy Digital. The auction began on Monday 23rd August and will run until Thursday 26th, 7PM EST.

Renowned digital artist S. Preston has been responsible for the actual designs. Know for a stipped-down aesthetic, his approach lends each image a hint of art deco. In this case focused on the PNC Park stadium, the ground’s most iconic feature — a clear view of the gold towers and suspension cables of the Roberto Clemente Bridge — is a centrepiece to the artwork.
What Else is in the Pittsburgh Pirates NFT Auction
The Pirates NFT auction features editions, but also a special 1-of-1 Gold Edition NFT. As with other MLB NFT drops, this is another example of experiential non-fungible token content, offering fans exclusive opportunities in the real world. In this instance, four Homeplate Club passes are up for grabs, granting admission to any 2021 or 2022 regular-season game.

In addition, a personalised Pirates jersey, on-field batting practice at PNC Park, and the chance to throw the honorary first pitch at a home game also feature. Meanwhile, its not the only Major League Baseball NFT on the market, St Louis Cardinals and Baltimore Orioles drops are also live until this Thursday evening. Baltimore’s artwork focuses on the red brick walls of the B&O Warehouse, seen from Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
Again, there’s experiential 1-of-1 is up for grabs. This includes two tickets to an Orioles game, a stadium tour, meet and greet with team alumni and honorary first pitch throw. The team’s first baseman, Trey Mancini, also launched his own NFT, raising money for the Trey Mancini Foundation. He set the organisation up after being diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer, from which he has now recovered. The previous auction in the MLB Stadium Series involved Tampa Bay Rays, New York Yankees, Washington Nationals, and Chicago Cubs.
