Playboy Magazine is ready to unwrap its Miami Beach NFT Collection in time for the 2021 Bitcoin Conference. SupeRare published the five NFTs from Vintage Playboy magazines last Friday as part of the Decentraland Art Week. The global fans of the iconic American men’s lifestyle and entertainment magazine can’t wait to snatch up pieces from this NFT Drop!

The Miami Beach Art Collection
The NFT Collection features art by Ayla El-Moussa, REK0DE, Jon Noorlander and MBSJQ. In addition, the collection includes an original heritage photograph of Vintage Playboy Bunny Kathy on water skis at the Miami Playboy Club in 1970. The photograph is part of Playboy Magazine’s archives. The Vintage Playboy NFT buyer will also receive a framed limited-edition print of the water-skiing Playboy Bunny photo.
The Miami Beach Art Collection is consistent with the magazine’s signature style and aesthetics. Liz Suman, VP of Art Curation and Editorial at Playboy, shared the creative direction of the Collection. She said ” Playboy has always taken risks when it comes to exploring new art forms, and digital art is a natural next step of that evolution!”

Playboy Magazine intentionally followed three powerful themes for this NFT collection. First is the unique Miami vibe. The second is to showcase the ever-evolving cryptocurrency landscape that Playboy is deeply embedded in. The last theme centers on Playboy’s globally recognized logo.

The NFT Collection also pays tribute to the 67-year-old history of the magazine in terms of championing artists. “From Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí to Keith Haring and Andy Warhol to Kinuko Kraft and LeRoy Neiman, Playboy has served as a creative incubator for some of the world’s most legendary artists long before they became household names,” adds Suman.
This is the first NFT Collection of Payboy Magazine with SuperRare and its third in total. Back in May, the magazine released “Liquid Summer” on Decentraland. The collection featured a shared vision stemming from Slimesunday and Playboy.
No longer so Vintage, Playboy only transitioned from being 100% print to digital back in Spring of 2020. Thus, the Playboy NFT Collection is part of its long-term plan to go digital.
SuperRare and Decentraland
Playboy is releasing the NFT Series on OG Marketplace SuperRare known as one of the pioneers of exclusive digital art. Additionally, their focus is on ‘Single Edition artwork’ – guaranteeing scarcity of their content. So Playboy Magazine’s digital artwork fits the bill perfectly.
Although SuperRare is hosting the auction, the digital artworks are being promoted in collaboration with Decentraland, a virtual reality platform powered by the Ethereum blockchain. Decentraland Art Week runs July 8 to 18. According to Suman, Playboy “worked closely” with the Decentraland team on the launch.
“We’re honored to join the SuperRare community and so excited to present our first collaboration during Decentraland Art Week,” Rachel Webber, the chief brand officer at Playboy said in a statement. “We’ve long admired Superrare’s curatorial vision and are thrilled to continue Playboy’s legacy as a curator of artistic expression on the platform.”
