An NFT from the Pudgy Penguins collection has sold for a breathtaking 400 ETH (around $600k) in a remarkable moment for the popular penguin project. It is the biggest ETH sale ever for the Pudgy Penguins project and signifies a massive moment for the penguins.
The NFT in question #6873 is the rarest of the 8,888 NFTs. It is the only pfp with a green background and faces the other direction to the rest of the NFTs. However, this is not the first big sale of #6873. Previously, it sold for 225 WETH in September of 2021.
Pudgy Penguins NFT sells for 400 ETH!
The new owner of the rare Penguin NFT #6873 is @KinkyBedBugs, a vocal enthusiast of the project. In a tweet yesterday, he said, “I put my money where my mouth is. I’m just 1000% bullish on the @pudgypenguins and @LucaNetz. That’s what it is, and that’s what it will be.”
Although there have been many jokes about the sale of the NFT for 400 ETH on Twitter, it could be a genius move by the new owner. Furthermore, in recent weeks, the floor price for a Pudgy Penguins NFT has risen 83% and 69% over the last month.
The 400 ETH Pudgy Penguin sale was from a listing on Opensea; however, the buyer opted to purchase the NFT through the official Pudgy Penguins marketplace built by Origin Protocol. The official marketplace helps to eliminate fake NFTs and provides users with advanced, collection-specific analytics before purchasing an NFT.
What next for the popular penguins?
In April this year, Luca Schnetzler, a member of the Pudgy community, brought the entire collection from the founder amid controversy. Now, the project is thriving, with a great community and a clear direction for the future.
While it may not make the list of most expensive NFTs of all time, the sale of the Pudgy Penguins for 400 ETH proves that there are many serious believers in this unique collection that has a floor price of 3.9 ETH.
