Rarible.com, the multi-chain NFT marketplace, has just announced its integration with the Metaplex Protocol – built on Solana. Thanks to this integration, Rarible is one step closer to offering a seamless, interoperable NFT experience.
What does this integration mean for NFT collectors?
Rarible’s integration of the Metaplex Procol makes Solana the sixth blockchain supported by the marketplace. The other five are Ethereum, Flow, Polygon, Tezos, and Immutable X. As a result, NFT users can now explore collections across multiple blockchains in one place.
The Solana blockchain has quickly gained popularity for its innovation and creativity in the NFT space. Notable collections on the blockchain, such as Degenerate Ape Academy as well as DeGods, have continued to cement Solana’s popularity.
“Since its inception, Rarible has been very bullish on the importance of establishing a multi-chain future for the blockchain industry in order to ensure its longevity and long-term success,” said Alex Salnikov, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer at Rarible.
Salnikov continued: “We are constantly striving towards a multi-chain vision in which all NFT communities across the blockchain industry are no longer siloed; where collectors and creators are free to engage seamlessly with their favourite collections all in one place regardless of their chain of origin.”
To celebrate the integration, Rarible will allow users to buy and sell Solana NFTs with zero fees for the first month of the integration. Additionally, the marketplace lowered its fees to 1 percent across all chains earlier this year.
Ash Pampati, Head of Partnerships at Metaplex Studios, also commented on the integration: “We’re excited to help bring Solana NFTs to life on Rarible. Through this [Rarible x Metaplex Protocol] integration with the Auction House program, Rarible is helping trail-blaze the path forward on open source, peer-to-peer and escrowless trading of NFTs.”
Earlier this year, the Rarible Protocol also integrated with the Solana blockchain. The Rarible Protocol differs from the marketplace by being a white-label solution for fully customised NFTs. The integration was key to the creation and expansion of popular Solana collections such as Degenerate Ape Academy.
