Popular NFT marketplace, Rarible has announced it’s working to bring cross-chain compatibility to their platform. They have said they have so far considered Tezos, FLOW and Solana for the increased transaction speeds and lowered gas fees.
Cross Chain Compatibility on Rarible
Rarible have announced their goals to bring on Tezos, FLOW and Solana to the platform, therefore creating a cross-chain platform. The announcement came as Rarible CEO and co-founder, Alexei Falin, spoke at NFT.NYC this week, referencing the need to innovate within the industry, in order to stay ahead of the game. The first introduction came last week when the team introduced Tezos. Providing the ability to deploy the Rarible protocol on their blockchain. You can see the announcement here.
The reason for making this move has been previously stated in many cases before. The high transaction speeds and lower gas fees provide a unique selling point for other blockchains out with Ethereum. They won’t be able to have these benefits until Ethereum 2.0. Additionally, many blockchains are a lot more environmentally friendly than Ethereum, which has received bad publicity for their proof of work method. This may however change again once we reach the stage of Ethereum 2.0.
More rumours have come out about the layer 2 solution, Polygon who are likely to be taken on by Rarible. They are on their radar. This is however not confirmed.
